The latest nVidia driver has caused problems with the FSX Steam Edition. When starting the sim I was getting:
"Invalid Hardware or Driver Detected", No Shader support. Minimum graphics required is geForce3/Radeon 8500" IIRC
The problem is a recent update from nVidia.
If you have this problem, go to your Device Manager and click on "Display Adapters". The driver listed under NVIDIA geForce will have a date of 12/2018. Click on "Rollback Driver". That should fix it.
